Celebrating 60 Golden Years of Dame Shirley Bassey and Sir Tom Jones
Dame Shirley Bassey and Sir Tom Jones are without doubt two of the most famous names and voices in British Music History.
Instantly recognisable with songs that have crossed generations and remain popular.
Bringing these iconic figures to life on the Civic stage are Liza Baker and Dean Jones, accompanied by the amazing Denmark Street Big Band, direct from the West End in London.
Liza Baker, was a contestant on ITV’s The Voice in 2017 and made it through to the knockout stages as part of Jennifer Hudson’s team.
She also appeared on the opening series of the X-Factor in 2004 auditioning in front of Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne, and Louis Walsh.
She also performed as Dame Shirley on a special Tribute Artisst edition of the Weakest Link, and has performed alongside Jefferson Starship in America.
She was born in Pontpridd (where Tom Jones lived) and 10 miles from where Shirley Bassey was born.
Dean Jones was also a contestant on the Voice in 2014, and has performed all over the world alongside perfomers such as Paul Potts (BGT winner), Leslie Garrett, Connie Fisher, and recorded a dance version of Thunderball for the”Forever Bond Platinum Edition” album in 2012.
He was also born in the same valley in Wales as Sir Tom Jones!
And on top of all that they will be accompanied by The Denmark Street Big Band – founded by Musical Director and band leader Paul Burch.
The band creates the same kind of energy, excitement and style as the great big bands of the past. Hand picked musicians with impeccable reputations and experience.
Since 2013, they have been resident special events big band for the The Royal Opera House’s New Year’s Eve Celebrations.
Members of the band regularly perform with some of the biggest names in the music industry including many famous West End Musicals.
The Band support Richard Shelton (Emmerdale, House of Lies, I Capture The Castle and The Britishers), on his award winning Sinatra tour shows ,and Bobby Davro on his “Laughter with a Swing Tour”.
