Where is Stourport-on-Severn?
Stourport-on-Severn is located in the picturesque county of Worcestershire, in the West Midlands region of the UK. It is ten miles north of the nearest major city of Worcester, and 108 miles north-west of London.
Stourport-on-Severn is one of only two towns in England to have grown solely as a result of the development of the canal network. The town has been a popular inland day-trip and holiday destination for over a century.
Stourport is also rare in having two rivers in its name – it was built adjacent to the River Stour and its impressive canal basins link to the River Severn. Before the addition of ‘on Severn’ by the Post Office in the 1920s, it was common for post to be sent to at Stourton, Stourbridge or other places with Stour in their name!
Its setting on the River Severn is a great backdrop for all sorts of family activities.
