The Civic Hall is looking for memorabilia from the last 50 years of The Hall and the town. The hall was first opened in 1967, there was a large ball to commemorate and the Civic Group are looking for people who may have information, photographs or newspaper cutting relating to this.
We would also like any group who has hired the hall since then to come forward and provide us with stories, photographs, programs etc that can be displayed in the hall on Carnival day.
The hall is undergoing a refurb in the foyer (under taken by the volunteers of the Civic Group) ready for a year of celebrations and fundraising (to raise money to now refurb the main hall and seating) starting with the memory day.
If groups would like to come forward and present their memories and advertise themselves, on the 2nd September, please contact the hall manger on 01299823339 or firstname.lastname@example.org. We will have the bar open and we are hoping that people watching the Carnival will pop in to see what is going on.
This will be followed by our ‘Live Local’ event featuring ‘STIFF JOINTS’ free entry with a request from a donation towards the refurb.
