We are absolutely delighted to announce that Stourport-on -Severn has been awarded Heritage Inland Port status alongside cities such as Exeter and Chester!
We hope that this formal recognition will further stimulate tourism around the canal basins and within the town itself, focus more attention on the heritage of the town for tourists and local people and underline the importance of our local heritage when planning decisions are to be made.
This change has been promoted by Heritage Stourport, which was formed through a partnership of Stourport Forward, Stourport Civic Society, Stourport Yacht Club, the Inland Waterways Association, Stourport Town Council and several Town Councillors, and other interested local people who saw the benefit of applying for Heritage Inland Port Status.
